When should I seek medical care for my sleep difficulties?

The Pillow Talk Program is a very safe and effective way to conquer insomnia.

Before following this self-help program, it’s important to rule out the existence of any medical conditions or side effects from medications that may be preventing you from getting a good night’s sleep.

If you have not had a recent physical exam, schedule a medical evaluation. You can begin the Pillow Talk Program while you are seeking medical evaluation.

Situations Requiring Immediate Attention

Under certain circumstances, it is advised that you seek medical attention immediately and do not begin the program until you do so. Situations that should be addressed immediately by a physician who can help you or refer you to a sleep specialist include:

 

After Six Weeks of Self-Care

If after adhering to the program for six weeks, you continue to suffer from frequent nights of poor sleep or if your sleep difficulties are seriously affecting your ability to function during the day, you should contact your doctor.
